For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. As one of
a Lewis gun team he behaved with the utmost fearlessness and
gallantry in accompanying his leader to an advanced position
under heavy rifle and machine gun fire. By his coolness and
courage he greatly assisted in the effective fire of his gun
at a critical moment during our advance against the enemy's
fortifications. |
