Officers. Whereas ye undernamed Overseers of ye poore within ye parishe of Stockport detayne in their hands severall great somes of money levyed within the said parishe for ye use of the poore and refuse to yeild any accompte of the money. Theis are therefore in his Ma't's. name straitly to charge you and every of you upon sighte or receipte herof to apprehend ye persons whose names are underwryten and bring them before mee or some other his Ma's'ts. 1675 11 Mar - made Will: IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. The eleventh day of March In the Eight & Twentieth yeare of the Reigne of our Soveurigne Lord Charles the Second by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland king defender of the faith et. Amoq domi : 1675. I WILLIAM HOWLEY of Dukinfield in the Countie of Chester Clothmaker beinge sicke & weake in body but of sound & perfect memory (thanks bee to Almighty God for the same. And Calling to mind the uncertaine state of this transitory life and all that flesh must yeild unto death when it shall please God to call, and beinge desirous to settle thinges in order do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form followinge, revoking and absolutely unwillinge by these present all and every Testament and Testaments Will and Wills heretofor by mee made & declared either by word or writinge, not withstanding any promise to the Contrary, or clamse derogatory in the same: And this to bee taken onely for my last Will and Testament and none other First and principally I render and bequeath my Soule to Almighty God my maker and to Jesus Christ my redeemer, and to the Holy Ghost my Santifier firmely trustinge that by the death and ascension of my blessed Saviour and by his only mercy and meditation for mee I shall live and partake with his blessed Saints in his heavenly Kingdom of those Celestiall Joyes which of his eternall goodness hee hath prepared for his elect; of which number through his infinitt grace and mercy I do confidently & steadfastly hope and beleeve that I am one And my body I command and leave to Christian burial in such decent sorte and manner as my Executrix hereafter named shall thinke meet and convenient thereto rest untill my soule and body shall meet againe and joined together at the Joyfull Resurrection and bee made partaken of the never fadinge Joyes of Immortalitye, which god in mercy through the merits of Jesus Christ alone hath promised for all those that truly and unfeignly respect and believe in him. And as touching all such temporall Estate of goods cattels Chattels & debts as the Lorde hath been pleased far above my deserts to bestowe upon mee I do order give and dispose of the same in manner and forme followinge. Imprimus. It is my will and mynde That my debts funerall expenses with all necessaryes aboute the same probate of my Will exhibiteinge of an Inventory and Twentie pounds which I have promised to THOMAS WALKER in part of his marriage portion with MARTHA my daughter, shalbee payd & discharged out of my whole goods Itm then I give leave and bequeath to my deere and wellbeloved wife SARAH HOWLEY the bed in the parlour belowe where I lye with all the clothes and furniture to it, only the sayd bedstead is to bee & remayne as an heirloome to my daughter MARY HOWLEY at the second marriage or decease of my sayd wife SARAH HOWLEY wch shall first happen, Itm I give leave and bequeath unto my sayd daughter MARY HOWLEY the Cupboard, the Table with all the waniscott in the house, the standinge bedstead in the parlour above And all the loose boards both those that were bought in Yorkshire and also where that are used about in the house. Itm I give leave and bequeath unto my servants ROBERT HEGINBOTHAM and THOMAS BESWICKE, five shillinges apeece, Itm then it is my will and mynde that the rest & remaynder of my goods and psonall estate whatsoever shalbee divided into three equall parts, whereof I will that SARAH my sayd wellbeloved wife shall have one equall third part And the benefitt and advantage of the Tacke of ground which I have taken of JAMES ARMTAGE, to and for her owne proper use & behoose Juliew satisfatton & discharge of her reasonable part or widdows part of my sayd goods chattells & personall estate. And the Second Third part of my goods Chattells and personall estate goe to bee divided into three as aforesayd I give leave and bequeath the same unto my daughter MARTHA now wife of him the sayd THOMAS WALKER, Itm the third part of my goods Chattells and personall estate goe to bee divided into three as aforesayd I give leave and bequeath the same unto my youngest daughter SARAH HOWLEY beinge with that shee is to receive of her eldest Sister in full of her porton and preferrment. And I doe hereby constitute ordayne and make my sayd deere and wellbeloved wife the sayd SARAH HOWLEY sole executrixe of this my last Will and Testament And I desire my Sonne in Law THOMAS WALKER and my good friend GEORGE HURST of Dukinfield aforesayd yeoman to bee overseeres of the same and to bee helpfull and assistant to my wife in the execution and performance of the same accordinge to my sure trust in them reposed In wittnes whereof I the sayd WILLIAM HOWLEY the Testator have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written.
