SUDDEN DEATH - On Saturday evening, about Six o’clock, a man called Joshua Hulley, aged about 45, a hat finisher, residing at 5 Irwell-street, after eating half-a-pound of mutton chop, and drinking some tea, lighted his pipe and after one or two whiffs, he complained that his belly was aching. In a moment or two afterwards as he was endeavouring to get towards his bed, he called out”Hold me”, and the words were scarcely uttered, when he was a corpse. Deceased had been drinking more or less for the last fortnight, and on the day in question he acknowledged having taken two glasses of ale and porter mixed. An inquest was held on the body by Mr. Herford, city coroner, when a verdict of “Death from natural causes” was returned.
