I Samuel Albert Spencer Hulley, late of Preston in the State of Victoria Boot Operator
but now a Member of His Majesty's Australian Imperial Forces hereby revoke all
testamentary writings and dispositions by me at any time. heretofore mad and declare
this to be my last Will I give and bequeath to my Wife Rose Hulley all my household
furniture and personal effects for her sole and separate use and benefit absolutely. I
give and devise to my Mother Rose Hulley, of Drummond Street, Carlton my real
estate situate in Osborne Grove Preston, having a frontage of 50 feet to Osborne Grove
aforesaid by a depth of 150 feet or thereabouts for her sole and separate use and
benefit absolutely And I appoint my said Wife sole executrix of this my Will as
Witness my hand this Eighth day of May 1916.

BODY FOUND IN DAREBIN CREEK.
The body of Samuel Albert Hulley was found lying face downwards in Darebin Creek,
Preston yesterday morning, and was conveyed to the Melbourne Hospital and thence
to the Morgue by Constable Besant. The creek was about 5ft. deep at the spot at which
the body was lying. A pea rifle was lying on the bank. There were no external wounds,
but blood was issuing from the mouth of deceased. Hulley was a married man, aged
39 years, and resided at Seymour street, Preston. He left his residence at about 8
o'clock in the morning, and a little later his wife noticed that a pea rifle was missing
from a room. Mrs Hulley communicated with Mr. S. Blower, a neighbour, who on
making a search, found the body in the creek.
Deceased Information. Fawkner Memorial Park wishes to advise that the location of
the buried remains of the late Samuel Hulley aged 40 are located at the Coburg
Cemetery METHODIST: Compartment B Grave No 258. (other sources state this grave
to be in the Roman Catholic section of the cemetery).
There is an Index to Wills, Probate and Administration Records 1841-1925 which
gives Samuel’s death date as 27 Dec 1918. On this Index you can use the link to
access his will. His occupation is given as a soldier from Preston, which is a suburb of
Melbourne in the State of Victoria. The will was made out on 8/5/1916. He names his
mother as Rose Hulley and also his wife as Rose.
